My Delphi...
In 2006, I returned to University to complete my first Master's degree in Dental Lasers. However, this was the start of my journey to further knowledge, not the culmination. Somehow it felt like this course was not enough for my mission. Instead, it awakened my desire to embark on another Master's with an entirely different focus! A decisive shift towards the world of Business led me to apply for an MBA.
Three years later, I gained excellent knowledge whilst overcoming the struggles and difficulties of studying a business subject without any prior experience. However, rather than be discouraged, I was enlightened by the invaluable insight into marketing, leadership, negotiation, accounting, and many other topics.
It was then that I awakened that many of my peers may be experienced in fillings, restorations, or root canals but managing their clinic also demands training, knowledge, practice, and evaluation.
I was going to class with the daily consideration of:
* How much easier the management of the clinic could be
* How satisfied I would be at the end of the course with effective negotiation skills
*How I would benefit from the selection of the very best employees
* How I would be able to delegate effectively and manage my accounts
* How I would design my new marketing strategy or promotional campaign
* How I would carry out effective pricing and attractive sales packages
*And how I could keep my cool when the pressure would heat up!
With the completion of the MBA, I understood that learning was only the first piece of the puzzle and that the real project was the dental clinic: finding new ways to change, redefine and improve its daily operations.
